It’s been a while since I’ve posted a fitness photo😅 #tb photo back in the summer💪🏽 • It’s crazy how just going to the gym 2x a week can deplete your muscles overtime. There’s been numerous people saying that I’ve “lost” my gains. I’ve been working 2 part-time jobs + running my own marketing business + full time school. Do me (and yourself) a huge favor here. 🙌 - SAVE this post and use it as a reminder that not all protein is protein. Let me explain. - When it comes to getting in an optimal amount of protein, whole food sources are king. - But, depending on the source, there’s a big variation in what else you are consuming along with that portion of protein. 🤔 - We have our lean sources like chicken, tuna, or egg-whites that contain little calories from anything other than protein... - These are great options to include to be conservative with your calories, for instance when seeking fat loss. 🔥 - But, there are also high-fat and high-carb protein sources that need to be accounted for in the big picture. - Take for example, peanut butter. 🥜 - Does it contain protein? Yes. Can it support your daily protein intake? Yes. Is it a “high-protein” food? Eh, that’s relative... - Although it may have anywhere from 7-10g of protein per serving, that is in addition to 16g+ of fat and 200 total calories. - That’s going to become a big issue if you’re adding a gargantuan tablespoon to your morning shake every day just to “get in more protein”... 🤦🏻‍♂️ - Now you see my point. - The goal here is to be able to identify these different types of protein and use them in a way which best supports your goals! 📈

Some competitors only stay disciplined during prep but “off season” is just as important as prep. This is why I encourage competitors to stay with your coach year round and stick to a plan. Competing isn’t about the 12, 16 or 20 weeks before a show. It’s about the weeks months and years that took place before prep even started. Its the redundant, repetitive day after day grind in the gym that you don’t get a trophy for, that nobody pats you on your back, that you don’t get it like on IG for. So ask yourself. What does your training look like? What does your nutrition look like? Do you know what you need to work on on the off season? Are you on a regiment that supports your goals? Does your drive, adherence and work ethic the same as when you’re in prep? You should be just as disciplined if not more so because that is where your changes happen. That is where improvement happens so when it’s time for prep, it’s there to uncover. If you’re in it, it’s a lifestyle. Sometimes I cut carbs in certain meals to make room for things I am craving in others. First plate is grilled chicken with mrs Dash table blend (best one yet) and coconut oil with a half a link of chinese sausage, grilled kale and cucumbers with salt and pepper... and second is toasted organic sprouted whole wheat lean protein bread with 1 tbsp peanut butter and half a tablespoon of apricot jelly! Soooooo yummy. I think It's ok to cheat (if u even want to call that a cheat) as long as u stay on track the rest of your day. If I am craving something like chinese sausage or pb and j I'm going to figure out how to eat it and stay on track!!!! The rest of my day was oats, egg whites with turkey meat and my egg protein shake and dinner was steak and chicken stir fry on jasmine rice. And my macros are still in check for the day! Deload week is almost over 😁 - Today was a short workout just had alot on my mind and the only place I can just forget everything is the gym. I did bench & conventional deadlifts since I haven't done them in a long time. - I didnt record this but I finally had the courage to ask someone to spot me. I was doing 115lbs and last I did it by myself the bar almost killed me lol. I did 3 reps which isnt bad.
