As a black woman living in a society that doesn’t look out for me, it is imperative that I take my own care and my own flourishing VERY seriously. I’d even go as far as to say that true self-care and community-care are radical acts. In the words of Audre Lorde, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”
In this week’s episode of the podcast, I sat down with Ida Bezabeh, founder of We Flourish, to talk about what it really means to care for yourself and your community. Ida up-leveled her idea of self-care and created @weflourishco , a space that allowed women to connect, empower, and flourish after experiencing a tough personal and professional year and realizing that she had to prioritize her needs in order to show up powerfully in the world.
